It all boils down to you. You must decide if you wish to fight for your rights and freedoms, or if you will lay down and take what a corrput society keeps dishing out, year after year. Freedom is never free, and it is up to all of us Americans to claim it back. The Electoral College is just the latest example of government and big business betraying the people. No democracy will be served with this system in existence. Our votes have not counted in a very long time and it will only get worse unless we change the voting system.
How the "college" works: Electors are chosen within each state to elect a president and vice-president. How did the college come to be? Originally, the Founding Fathers invented the Electoral College at a time when our country did not yet have a strong National Consensus. Back in the day, the majority of Americans were illiterate farmers and laborers, who lived in remote areas. Back then, chances were high that regional "third parties" would "unreasonably" split the votes.
There was also the worry back then the people would only vote for their state's representative for President, due to a lack of information available to voters at that time. If a candidate gained a majority in the Electoral College, it was viewed as the equivalent of a National Consensus.
Well, those days have been long gone. People are a little smarter today, knowledge is much easier to obtain with media and Internet, and in the 21st century, it's time for "change" to happen, in favor of the American people, not against them. It is up to YOU to demand these changes to happen, and to help remove outdated systems that do not serve us any longer. The popular vote should always prevail but seldom does these days.
The Electoral College is a tactic to manipulate the popular vote. Skewed politics and uncontrolled corruption running amuck, criminals from congress, Wall Street, lobby groups, special interests, and other corrupt inner circle players continue to keep the Electoral College in place, in order to sway things in the direction of control for that year. Usually the highest bidder from the swordfishes, the rich fat cats of Wall Street, corrupt lobby groups, special interests or a combination of these crooks wins the bribe - the election of a U.S. president. Regardless of how the popular vote goes, the college ultimately prevails. Just look back on Gore vs. Bush in 2000 if you've forgotten. You can find plenty of complaints about it online.
Are American votes rigged? Welcome to Planet Earth. Yes. Absolutely, they are rigged. Since the beginning of time, when civilizations began the voting process. From evil dictators in Africa and the Middle East to today's current "civilized society." Absolutely nothing has changed. Your vote, especially in a "pre-determined" state, has already been made up for you, whether you like it or not. This is why voter apathy continues to grow, and why Americans continue to feel powerless over their government.
Think we're wrong? Just ask the good residents of Florida whose votes were lost or tallied incorrectly. Or better yet, just ask the good people at ACORN who were put up to voter fraud. Imagine being a fly on that wall? This has been going on for years and years. It's time to clean up the entire voting system.
Voting via machine. Why is it the new voter machines never seem to work right? Technology usually eases our problems, otherwise the ATM machine would not spit out money to this day. The computer would have fallen to the wasteside. And now, after all these years of voting, people suddenly "don't know how to vote?" People suddenly don't know how to punch a ballot? Paper trails are lost and computerized machines don't have a paper trail? Hmmmm... Sure seems fishy to us. So long as the corruption continues, YOU are the one who pays the price by not having your voice heard. Not the democracy we were taught we had, huh?
It's time to face the facts. We live in a day of terrible corruption. The popular vote is not how a president is elected. Many ballot measures are also rigged, depending on who has the power. Your vote can be changed, erased, doctored, lost, etc. And don't even think about absentee ballots or early voting, as those votes are some of the most corrupted.
Who is watching the "Watchers"? Who is running the show? Who is protecting your interests as an American voter? The answer is very few. The watchdog groups that try need your support to help out. Face it. The highest bidder in just about everything runs the show. Period.
The 4-year insult: Regardless of parties, many voters are unhappy after each election. Votes feel they've been manipulated and screwed over by the system. To add insult to injury, our lovely government creates a group of fools to go out and pretend to "scrutinize" the Electoral College for "deflecting the will of the people." But nothing ever comes out of it. Why? Because we live in the modern day Roman Empire, which controls EVERYTHING, especially your vote.
Once upon a time: Originally, electors were "allowed to vote their conscience," at the end of the day. But that is no longer the case. Today, electors are "pledged to support" the candidate that won in their state. A recipe for corruption.
Anyone who supports the Electoral College is usually a Wall Street criminal or a congressional criminal. There is no need to take votes away from the public. We were led to believe we lived in a democracy. Americans are beginning to find out they live in a dictatorship based empire. It's over for America unless the people stand up and fight. Drastic times call for drastic measures. It's time to stand up and fight for our rights.
